Engineering Question

My product requires an electronic circuit. I know what I need the end result to do, but how do I go about designing it and having a sample built so I can put it into my prototype?

Like most things in inventing, it depends.

Here is a book that I have that gives a easy to understand explanation of some simple circuits. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3433933

I would also read the post about bread boards in the engineering section.

If the circuit is very basic, you could buy some components and a breadboard to make the circuit. I would only do this for a battery powered device.
