Hi Anthony,

In inventing/product development there are many times when collaborating is the way to move forward on your project - We call that “Share Equity”. It’s basically where you start a small company around your product and the R&D Company does all their work for a share of the ownership in the company. Any patents awarded to the invention are assigned to the company and the owners, who may be you, a patent lawyer, the R&D company, a sales rep, the packaging designer, an accountant, even in some cases the fulfillment company or a manufacturer – all the disciplines needed for the overall process.

Share Equity is a great way to collaborate and get your product to the market without using your own money – however, these people all have experience in the business so in order to get them on board you have to have a great product that will sell.

Hope this helped
