An Arizona implant from Massachusetts for about ten years now, Bill Goldblatt is an up and coming visionary. He is not an accomplished inventor and cannot yet boast of great success as an entrepreneur. He can boast that he owned stock in Research in Motion in 1998 before the Blackberry was introduced and the stock was listed on Nasdaq. He can also point out that he sold this stock in 1999 without reinvesting, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.

Bill holds a degree in Management as well as a certificate in Small Business and Entrepreneurship Studies from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. His course of study was chosen on the grounds that the underlying principles that make any small business successful are identical to the principles that make a large multinational corporation successful. He is a firm believer in the notion that one who succeeds as an entrepreneur can find a way to succeed in any professional role in just about any situation.

After college, Bill worked for Journey IPD, a small, start-up, legitimate yet ultimately doomed product/inventor development company. “Journey” had been founded by the late Steve Gootter – an accomplished inventor himself – and worked to support the objectives of inventors, patent attorneys, and corporations alike. As a counted on member of a small office environment, Bill received experience that was a bit more valuable than the typical ‘entry level’ experience, and he helped the company maintain an excellent local reputation as a patent search provider. Through Journey, Bill contributed to a few entrepreneur success stories, worked in a consulting role for a Fortune 500 company or two, and killed the dreams of several inventors (via patent searches).

Since Journey’s demise, Bill founded Criterion Dynamics, a firm offering high quality patent search, trademark search, and custom competitive intelligence, valuation, and metric analysis services (see www.criteriondynamics.com – an overhauled website is in the works). Since this company was founded in 2006, Bill is and has been active – often under the guise of his company’s name - in several communities relevant to inventing, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property. In these communities his contributions have not gone unnoticed.

Outside of the office, among other things, Bill is a borderline NBA stat geek and knows how to read an astrological chart.

To the community, Bill brings expertise in secondary internet-based research, a working knowledge of patent, trademark, and copyright law, a solid understanding of marketing principles, as well as objective ‘from afar’ insight. He is knowledgeable enough to be an asset, intelligent enough to make use of his knowledge; he is experienced enough to know how things work, but not experienced so much that underlying principles and perspectives are ever overshadowed by ingrained thought processes.
