Stephen has spent 17 years in product development in a number of large corporations. His product portfolio includes diverse products such as missile guidance systems, toys, and cellular phones. He’s an inventor with six issued United States patents and nine patents still pending.
He has led teams to develop several firsts at Motorola; a rubber ovemolded ruggedized cellular phone and a radio controlled toy car with a multi-sensory control interface on a cellular phone. At Sony Ericsson he was part of a team that identifies emerging technologies that can be introduced into products to deliver competitive advantage in the demanding cellular phone market.
In addition to his day job, he founded Inspiration2Innovation LLC to commercialize some of the consumer products he has under development. He is also the author of the Invention Addict blog where he shares his product development insights and peculiar sense of humor with whomever will read along.
Stephen has given talks on innovation at the University of Science and Technology in Rolla Missouri as well as at the Innovation Convergence Conference. He has a paper titled, "The Building Blocks of Innovation" due to publish this summer at the Society of Plastics Engineers ANTEC Conference.
Stephen is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and he also holds a MBA from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt and is currently pursing Black Belt certification from North Carolina State University.
Stephen and his family live in the small historic and somewhat rural town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, just outside Research Triangle Park.
